When duty and loyalty comes against the bond of blood, what happens?
M.I and Jesse Jagz Abaga, they go a long way. Both are brothers. Born of the same mother and father. They grew up together, bonding as brothers in Jos. They went to similar schools, shared similar experiences, ate the same food, went out on dates together, prayed together, cried together and hustled together. But with the recent face-off between Brymo and Chocolate City, both find themselves on opposing sides. How will this affect their brotherly love?
After quitting Chocolate City earlier this year, talented singer Brymo, refused to make it legal. He was still bound to contract by law, running up to 2016. He ignored it, dared the heavens, and went on to produce an individual album (Merchants, Dealers and Slaves). Acting purely out of business and anger, Chocolate City put out a legal injunction against Brymo who just released his 3rd album –Merchants, Dealers and Slaves – which prevents him “from recording, releasing, distributing any composition, song, musical works or carrying out any activity as a recording or performing artist through or for the benefit of any person or organisation other than Chocolate City pending the determination of the suit against him.”

Merchants,Dealers & Slave, Brymo
Brymo’s new album is the subject of a court wrangle

With that, people have begun to take sides, and this has set up 2 brothers in enemy camps. Rapper M.I, is a Vice President at Chocolate City. He has massive controlling interests in the business, and surely is bound to directly (or indirectly?) benefit from Brymo’s contract. He is against Brymo quitting, and publicly takes a stand on it. His brother, Jesse Jagz is a Chocolate City rebel. He earlier quit the label, set up a his own recording imprint, and released an album which has enjoyed relative success. He might even have inspired Brymo to take similar route, and counseled him.
Now Brymo is in trouble, and the Abaga brothers have both taken sides. Jesse Jagz has rallied behind the embattled singer, and M.I will stick to his duty to Chocolate City. But with their business and sentimental interests set to clash, their bond of brotherhood is sure to be tested. Perhaps it will strain and crack, making them blood enemies of each other.
Will loyalty and duty destroy the thickness of blood? Will Brymo’s imbroglio tear apart an eternal bond? Will Jesse Jagz and M.I become enemies? Will they kill each other?
The die has been cast, the battle line is drawn. Brymo’s issue is far from conclusion, and Chocolate City never will withdraw their demands. And M.I and Jesse Jagz are against each other on this one.
Here’s to hoping, the Abaga family remains a family.
