The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday,
in Lagos arrested the Vice President of the Nigerian Football
Federation, NFF, Mike Umeh, over money laundering and misappropriation
of
public funds.
Mr Umeh who was expected to join the Super Eagles in their camp today, however, following an arrest warrant issued by the High Court in Sokoto State, will be arraigned at the on-going trial of the former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, on Wednesday in Sokoto.
Furthermore, the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren said the Vice President of the Nigerian Football Federation was arrested for being an accomplice in the crime of money laundering and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N15 billion against Mr. Bafarawa.
The case will be presided by Justice Bello Abbas of the Federal High Court on Wednesday.
